What we need
Missing something from this list? Send what you have. Most enquiries can be priced from a dimensioned sketch, and we would rather ask one question than quote round a gap.
Five steps, and the one that matters most is the first.
Geometry checked against the process: internal radii, tab sizes, hole-to-edge distances and anything that will not cut cleanly at the specified thickness.
Profiles nested for material yield where the quantity justifies it. On a single part, yield matters less than lead time and we say so.
Mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium up to 25 mm. Pierce points positioned away from cosmetic faces where the part has one.
Straight into CNC folding, punching, welding and assembly without leaving the group, or delivered flat if that is all you need.
Working from a 3D model rather than flat patterns? We develop the flats and confirm bend allowances with you before anything is cut.

Cut in Stockport. Folded, machined, welded and finished in Norfolk.
A job that needs cutting and fabricating does not have to be split across two unrelated suppliers, and the material certification does not have to cross a company boundary to get to you.
North West customers
The group's profiling capacity sits at Borron Street, Portwood, Stockport SK1 2JD, minutes from the M60 and within easy reach of Manchester, Salford, Oldham, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Trafford, Tameside and the wider North West.
JEM Sheet Metal & Engineering has operated from Stockport since 1976 and holds laser cutting, CNC folding to 3 m, CNC punching and MIG, TIG and spot welding under one roof. Enquiries placed through Van Driel are handled by the same estimating process and the same group standard.

At the Stockport works in Greater Manchester, operated by our sister company JEM Sheet Metal & Engineering, not at East Harling. We are explicit about this because a supplier who implies a machine is on site when it is two hundred miles away is telling you something about how they will handle the rest of the job. For customers in the East of England, profiles are cut at Stockport and processed onward at East Harling.
Up to 25 mm in mild steel. Stainless steel and aluminium are cut alongside it with lower maximums, which depend on the grade and on the tolerance required and confirmed when we quote rather than stated as a headline figure that may not hold for your part.
Yes, and that is usually the point. CNC folding to 3 m and CNC punching sit alongside the laser at Stockport; welding, machining, assembly and finishing happen at East Harling. A job that needs cutting and fabricating does not have to be split across two unrelated suppliers, which is where material certification, the schedule and the responsibility normally get lost.
A DXF or DWG of the flat profile. If you have a 3D model rather than flat patterns we will develop the flats and confirm bend allowances with you before cutting because getting the allowance wrong is the most common reason a folded part comes out the wrong size, and it is entirely avoidable.
No. Single parts and prototypes are cut alongside production quantities. Where quantity justifies it, nesting is used to improve material yield, and that shows up in the price.
Related capability
Most jobs cross two or three disciplines. Quoting them together removes handling, transport and the interface risk that comes with splitting a job across suppliers.
