Steel plate stock ready for processing

Engineering and fabrication services

Seven capabilities, held in-house or within the group, quoted as a single scope of work with one company accountable for the result.

Before the capability list

If it is not specified yet, start here

The seven capabilities below assume you know what you want made. Where that is not the case (a requirement rather than a drawing, a part that keeps failing, an obsolete component with no records) the work starts as engineering consultancy and becomes a manufacturing scope once the answer is settled.

What we can make for you

Each capability below has its own page setting out processes, materials, typical applications and what we need from you in order to quote accurately.

01 A part-built steel assembly held in a fabrication jig

Steel Fabrication

Mild steel and stainless assemblies, from single items to batch production.

View capability

02 An engineering drawing on the bench beside the part it produced

Bespoke Engineering

Design-and-build for one-off problems that have no catalogue answer.

View capability

03 A cutting tool turning a steel component, with coolant flowing

CNC & Machining

Turning and milling, CNC and manual, as a standalone or in-process service.

View capability

04 TIG welding a stainless steel joint, torch and filler rod in shot

Welding

MIG, TIG and spot welding in steel, stainless and aluminium.

View capability

05 A laser head cutting a steel plate, sparks below the sheet

Laser Cutting

Profiling to 25 mm in mild steel, provided by our sister company in Stockport.

Scope

Not on the list?

This page describes the disciplines we hold today. It is not a boundary on what we will quote.

A significant share of the work that comes through the door does not fit a service category. It is a problem described over the phone, or a photograph of something that has failed, or a concept that has never been drawn. Those enquiries start as engineering consultancy and, once the answer is settled, are made under bespoke engineering. They are frequently the most useful work we do.

Where a scope needs a process we do not operate (galvanising, powder coating, heat treatment, independent testing, specialist coatings) it is placed with established supply-chain partners under our contract, so you still hold a single supplier and a single delivery date.

Process

How a job runs

Enquiry and drawing review

Send a drawing, a sketch, a photograph or a description. We accept DXF, DWG, PDF, STEP and IGES. An engineer reads the enquiry, not a form-handler, and comes back with questions where the intent is ambiguous rather than quoting round a gap.

Quotation

A written quotation covering scope, material specification, finish, delivery route and lead time. Where a job would be better and cheaper made a different way, we say so at this stage rather than after the material is cut.

Design and preparation

Where the enquiry is a concept rather than a drawing, we develop it to manufacturing intent and agree it with you before any material is cut. Nesting, cutting lists and weld procedures are prepared from the approved information.

Manufacture

Profiling, forming, machining, welding and assembly. Work in progress is checked against the approved drawing at the points where an error would become expensive to unpick, not only at the end.

Inspection and finish

Dimensional check against the drawing, weld visual inspection, and finishing to the agreed specification. Independent testing, coating and galvanising are arranged through established supply-chain partners where a specification calls for them.

Delivery or installation

Packed and delivered to your works or site, or installed at your premises by our own team where the scope requires it.

Get a written quotation

Send drawings or a description of the requirement. An engineer reviews every enquiry, not a form-handler, and comes back with questions where the intent is ambiguous.
